#16. Johannes Daniel JUNG

Born: 16 May 1805, the eighth of ten children. He was Christened 13 Jun 1805 at Zion Lutheran Church in Lunenburg.
Died: 1884, age 78, was buried beside Luise and some children.

Father: Johann Caspar JUNG #32 (b 4 Mar 1758 - d 8 Nov 1832).
Mother: Maria Gertraut HARNISCH #33 (b 7 Aug 1770 - d bef 1814).

Married: 21 Nov 1833, age 28, to Luise WALTHER #17 (b 18 Jan 1813 - d 22 Sep 1887).

The Census of 1871 listed him as a farmer and wheelwright living with his wife and four adult children: John 27, Augusta 23, Rachel 22, and Israel 15. They were shown as being Lutheran.

Will: In the name of God, Amen. I John Daniel YOUNG of Martin's Brook in the county and Township of Lunenburg in the Province of Nova Scotia and Dominion of Canada Yeoman being of sound and understanding mind and good bodily health thanks be to God for it do hereby make this my last will and Testament request my body to be buried in a desent and becoming manner in the Upper burial ground near the Town of Lunenburg, and my spirit - I commend to the mercy of God.

To my beloved son John G. Daniel YOUNG I give and bequeath the western half of the property at present owned and occupied by me.

To my beloved son Israel Francis YOUNG I give and bequeath the Eastern half of said property, but all the apple and fruit trees together with the Barns and out Buildings and all rights-of-ways such as roads to the shore to be hel in common with both my sons, the dwelling house shall also be held in common by both of them till such time as John G. D. YOUNG shall build a house on his half of said property or shall sell it, but neither of them shall have power to sell said property unless one of my aforesaid sons shall be the purchaser, but the property shall ascend to their children. I also bequeath to them all my personal property to e divided equally between them.

To my beloved wife Lucy YOUNG I give and bequeath the furniture of the room now occupied by us as a bedroom together with the right of rese\idence in said room during her natural life and also a right-of-way through the house, and my said sons John D. YOUNG and Israel Francis YOUNG, shall find and provide my wife Lucy YOUNG with good and sufficient food, clothing, and ... and shall pay or cause to be paid to her the sum of ten dollars each annually during her natural life in lieu of dower in said property and my son John G. D. YOUNG shall pay or cause to be paid to my daughter Elizabeth Louisa the sum of fourteen dollars and she shall have a residence in my house until such time as she marries or during her natural life also she shall have the weaving loom, also my son John G. D. YOUNG shall pay or cause to be paid to my daughters Sarah Sophia, Rebecca Catherine and Mary Clara to each of them the sum of twelve dollars dominion currency out of his share of such property and my son Israel Francis YOUNG shall pay or cause to be paid to my daughter Louisa Elizabeth the sum of two dollars and to each my daughters Maria Catherine, Mary Ann, Martha Eliza and Augusta Sophia the sum of twelve dollars dominion currency out of his share of the above property the above sums shall be paid within eighteen months of my decease.

I also request my son Israel Francis YOUNG and my wife Lucy YOUNG to be and act as my Executors if either or both of them shall survive me.



John and his wife Lucy are buried in Lunenburg Hillside Cemetery.

Some of their children's names are also inscribed on this stone. All inscriptions were very difficult to read.

This stone is adjacent to the maintenance shed.
