In the name of God Amen.
I James Parks of the Township and County of Lunenburg in the Province of Nova Scotia Farmer being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thank God for it calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and Testament that is to say
First of all I give and recommend my soul unto the hands of God who gives it and for my body I recommend it to the earth to be buried in a Christian and decent manner at the discretion of my executors and as touching such worldly estate as it has pleased God to bless me with in this life I give and bequeath and dispose of the same in the following manner that is to say -
First I do give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Elizabeth Parks the one third of my real estate and fifty pounds of lawful money of Nova Scotia for her to enjoy as long as she liveth and also a priviledge in my house for the said time.
Second I do give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Ann Parks fifty pounds of good and lawful money of Nova Scotia to be raised and paid out of real estate by my executors.
Thirdly I do give and bequeath unto my daughter Margaret Parks the sum of fifty pounds of good and lawful money of Nova Scotia twenty five pounds being paid during my life and the remainder to be paid by my executors.
Fourthly I do give and bequeath unto my son James Parks one third of my real estate for him to enjoy when the youngest comes of age.
Fifthly I do give and bequeath unto my son Daniel Parks one third of my real estate for him to enjoy when he comes of age. And also all my personal estate to be equally divided between my three sons that is to say James Parks, Peter Parks and Daniel Parks except so much to be taken out of the personal estate as well pay all charges and supply all the needs of the family and my will and desire is if any of the aforesaid heirs should die before they have heirs their part to be divided equally among the rest of the heirs.
And I do make and ordain William Parks Junr and James Parks Junr executors of my last will and testament and do disavow and revoke all and every former testament wills and legacies and executors by me in any way before this time named, willed, bequeathed ratifying and conforming this being my last will and testament in witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this thirteenth day of January one thousand eight hundred and forty three.
