According to the Canadian Census records of 1871-1901,Israel was at first Lutheran and then Methodist. His friend Rev. Jabez APPELBY used to walk out from town up to three times a week for a visit. (See picture below.) It was said that this was because Israel was either very bad or very good. (Evidence points strongly to the latter.) He said evening prayers daily and delighted in reading the 103rd Psalm aloud. He enjoyed singing and participated in a choir. He also read alot. The 1891 and 1901 Censuses showed Israel to be a farmer and labourer. His ethnic origin was given as German.

His Estate was appraised at $5060 by Welsaney Young and Nathan Young and consisted of: Household goods and furniture ($100), farming implements ($60), horned cattle ($45), books debts and promissory notes ($300), securities for money ($1500), cash on hand ($40), cash in bank ($2175), farm produce of all kinds ($50), other property ($140), and real property ($650) declared on 30 Nov 1928.
Under the terms of Israel's will, $10 per month was due to his widow Georgina as long as she lived and did not remarry. Since Clarence died in 1930, Daniel was the sole surviving executor. Georgina was still living in 1944, so when the interest for the remaining bonds was insufficient to cover the monthly allowance, Daniel decided to close out his father's estate by giving Georgina a cash buyout of $500 and ceasing monthly payments. This was finalized on 23 Feb 1944 (It is as yet unknown when Georgina died.) In addition to the widow's allowances, the following expenses were noted: digging grave ($8); funeral ($130); bequests to Emily ($400), Clarence ($200), and Daniel ($600); probating will and tolling bell ($33.20); Maritime Monument Works ($9.50); and final probate charges ($42.50) for a total disbursements of $5191.90. The balance of $1745.40 was divided equally ($581.80) between Daniel, Emily Baker and Mrs. Clarence Young.
