Born: 18 Dec 1854 the second of eight (or nine) children.
Died: 21 Jul 1923, age 68, of pneumonia at Young's Landing, Lunenburg Co, NS. The funeral service at the Methodist Church was conducted by Rev. Appleby. Burial on 23 Jul 1923 was at Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg, NS. Israel was buried beside her later. Sweeney Funeral home handled the details at a cost of $130.

Mother: Catherine Matilda BACKMAN #19 ( b 13 Jun 1828 - d 23 Feb 1912).

Married: at age 19 to Israel Francis YOUNG #8 (b 11 Feb 1855 - d 19 Sep 1928).

According to Lillian YOUNG-ALLEN, Johanna read mostly magazines, hooked rugs and wove sheets from flax in the old loom house, which was later converted into a garage.

Johanna and her husband Israel are buried in Lunenburg Hillside Cemetery.

Her in-laws' names are also inscribed on this stone. All inscriptions were very difficult to read.
