The first map below shows the various political boundaries of Germany about 1800. At this time and earlier, Germany was made up of innumerable Abbeys, City States, Dioceses, Duchies, Kingdoms, Principalities, and other districts. Boundaries were in a state of flux what with all the wars that raged throughout the area.
The map will soon list towns known to be origins of our Lunenburg Ancestors.
The various larger districts are coloured. This scheme is also followed in the more detailed maps for the following regions, where families are identified with specific towns, if known
By way of comparison, the second map shows the current political boundaries.
There are bound to be misteaks. If you find any, please let me know.
