QUICK INDEX TO SELECTED LUNENBURG
GENEALOGICAL WEB SITES
The purpose for this page is to provide quick access to web pages, primarily dealing with the early years, without having to wade through the text found on the "LUNENBURG IS HOME" page.
But first, a view of Lunenburg Harbour as seen from my Grandfather's home situated above the ship yards. This panoramic view was made by joining four pictures taken in the spring of 1960. The pigments in the picture had faded with time so I had to boost them a bit. The picture spans roughly southeast to west.
The hill to the left is the beginning of the Garden Lots.
The base of Battery Point and "lighthouse" is the site of the present day fish factory.
Immediately to the right of the lighthouse across the outer harbour is Feltzen South.
Just to the right of centre is Kaulback's head and the golf course.
In the foreground is the marine railway where ships are hauled up for work on the hull.
The long red building to the right is the site of the shipyard where the two 'Bluenoses" and "Irene Mary" (one of my grandfather's ships) were built. Back then, construction was in the open.
Now, perhaps you can understand why I loved spending my summers there!
You can also view a larger scale version of this picture. Be patient, it is 760K.
Web sites preceded by # are from elsewhere and credit should go to "them".
