
In the contest, the goal is to produce only single crystals, because this is more technically demanding. Multiple crystals result when the crystallization occurs rapidly. We do not accept or judge aggregates of multiple crystals.
However, aggregates of exceptional beauty are occasionally sent to us. The crystal mass in the above picture is one such example, submitted by students at Brookfield High School in Ottawa, Ontario.
This was prepared from a solution of Rochelle Salt "contaminated" with copper sulfate.
